Thank for your willingness to share your truth family.

02:08:06
Please feel free you ask additional questions here.

02:08:27
Is the number of African American students in phase 2A proportional to their numbers in SFUSD?

02:09:29
Thank you Laura we are capturing your question for follow up

02:10:41
Yes Laura, in phase 2A they were proportional to their district representation

02:11:47
Thank you Ritu, we are capturing your comment for follow up

02:12:02
What will socializing look like on person? Will there be recess? Will kids be able to play together?

02:12:06
Is there any way to share the aggregate data from today's survey with SFUSD's community partners? This would be super helpful information for improving our services to families.

02:12:34
Also Superintendent Matthews' current slides would be an amazing resource

02:12:47
What is been done to accommodate students in Middle or High School who have IEPs but are finding it hard with distant learning? Are there pods or hubs for these students?

02:13:24
Thank you Mauricha, Tandem, and mcpaddenw, we are capturing your comment for follow up

02:14:02
Hi Mauricha - For Phase 2A students can play together in small stable cohorts. So there would be recess together with the same small group students are also in class with. ,

02:14:05
The slides by Dr. Matthew re: progress towards opening seem unclear. For example, cleaning of schools is at 30% or more completed (color coding says that) but the data seems to be 25% or less completed. What safety measures are already implemented on site. What more steps are needed? Also, it says training of students & parents have been started. We have received no info/training from our schools re: safety measures.

02:14:38
Thank you Nikki S, we are capturing your comment for follow up

02:16:08
Will the vaccine be required or optional in order to return to in person?

02:17:51
We will share the deck with you all in just a bit.

02:18:17
Who are the 19 elementary schools in wave 2?

02:18:29
You are also welcome to ask your questions here

02:19:42
What meaning are you making about the decrease in Black attendance? My son noticed it and it affects his participation.

02:20:17
…so the gap is widening. Right?

02:20:26
Thank you Mauricha and the Center, we are capturing your comments for follow up

02:23:45
Our teachers say that they are not equipped to answer the questions we have - they say they are waiting for the district. Why has there not been a strong statement of what needs to happen across the district - and for those who can do better, that is where there can be individualism?

02:27:46
Will the Honor Roll be celebrated this year?

02:28:52
Yes Trina! Stay to the end to hear all about it! Also check you AAPAC updates

02:30:34
The discrepancy between Reading Inventory scores is very startling - what is the district doing to increase reading levels for African American students?

02:33:19
Will there be additional SEL resources to respond to the shared trauma students have experienced during this time?

02:33:39
(FYI - I am Gregory Peters… cannot change name)

02:34:49
A little more information about my role: I am the elected president of United Educators of San Francisco, the union that represents 6500 educators, including teachers, paraeducators, counselors, security aides, school nurses, librarians, social workers, substitutes, psychologists, and wellness coordinators. On another subject, I’m putting this poem in chat because it is SO important that we keep talking about the inequities we know exist: “Looks like what drives me crazyDon't have no effect on you--But I'm gonna keep on at itTill it drives you crazy, too." —Langston Hughes

02:34:56
Thank you Mr. Peters we will get to your great questions.

02:35:44
how do parents access the digital resources mentioned by ms. enikia ford morthel?

02:36:02
And not just talk, but address the issues to make the world better for our kids.

02:37:10
Just changed settings but please remain on mute until called upon.

Thank you Ms. Soloman for your comment

02:39:34
have a great evening.

02:39:35
:(

02:40:03
Hello, Ms. Williams, and you’re welcome! Good to see you.

02:40:33
I noticed that grades 3- 12 who are not on the priority list have not been included in the phases . How will SFUSD be able to support black families who needs a place for their kids to receive distance learning help due to being a DSW essential worker?

02:40:49
The mute settings have been changed where you can unmute yourselves, just please wait to be called upon.

02:40:56
appreciate everyone's grace and patience

02:41:15
Thank you Sister Renee we are capturing your question

02:43:40
Given the teaching load on parents, can we be part of the conversation about conditions needed for and expectations of teaching?

02:45:02
Thank you Mr. Peters we are capturing your question

02:45:26
For Ms. Solomon, do you have any data that shows what percentage teachers want to return?

02:46:08
Greg, Sis Renee and Wendy we see your hands.

02:47:43
thank you for that clarification.

02:48:09
Thank you Nikki for your question

02:48:46
@Mr. Robinson, our most recent data was gathered by a survey before there was a vaccine, so I think it is safe to say that the percentage is higher than it was before. I also want to repeat that while about 4000 UESF members are teachers, there are 2500 other educators as well.

02:48:57
Family, please feel free to ask your questions here

02:49:54
Thank you Ms. Solomon, where can we find the data?

02:50:13
How will SFUSD planto intentionally provide support to students that will be graduating 5th to 6th, 8th-9th grade and 12th grade?

02:50:22
Thank you Mauricha

02:51:04
Thanks, AAPAC, for providing so much time in the agenda for Q&A!

02:52:20
This hasn’t been explicitly been stated, but can we expect students that are not part of the waves will not return to school this school year?

02:52:26
they are doing nothing from what I see.

02:53:45
This is not happening but sounds good

02:55:31
Thank you Jessica and Mary for your questions

02:55:46
can we get both waves please

02:56:09

03:07:32
Student Delegate Hines-Foster and Student Delegate Almanza - so glad you’re here with us!

03:07:36
Thank you Greg for sharing your family's truth! You are absolutely correct in the disconnect between the district and the school site leadership. The district communications give me hope, while the school site communications are mediocre at best and it's a total blame game.

03:08:02
We would like to carry your voices on. Please remember to complete our survey: tinyurl.com/AAPACSpring

03:09:58
Thank you Dr. Matthews for sharing and being real with all of us about how this has impacted you. I’m very grateful for your presence as well as your team joining us tonight.

03:10:40
Thank you for inviting me, Ms. Erving.

03:10:55
Thank you for your responses… In response to Susan asking what could be done - one thing could be to define FOR teachers the bottom line of what must happen - and allow those who can meet or beat expectations to do their own…. (i.e. PBL across the district, or an expectation of the same reduced outcomes across each year, etc.)

03:11:19
Thank you everyone for this wonderful meeting

03:12:26
Absolutely Ms. Peters!

03:16:29
Teachers and other educators can and are willing and ready to contribute greatly to the conversation about what can and should happen during this time, and can describe what resources are needed. (And as a point of information, teachers are being evaluated this year.)
